We are committed to being open, transparent and fair about how we use your information.
This page explains your rights, how to use them, and where you can find trusted guidance.
There are two authorities:

What are your information rights?
You have legal rights under data protection and freedom of information laws.
Your data protection rights
You may have the right to:
- access your personal information (known as a Subject Access Request)
- correct inaccurate information
- ask for your data to be deleted
- restrict or object to how your data is used
- receive a copy of your data in a reusable format
These rights exist under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. [gov.uk]
Not all these rights are absolute and we will tell you if we don’t legally have to comply.

Your right to request information (FOISA)
If you want information held by organisations, you can request it under:
- the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA)
- the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations (EIRs)
This lets you ask for recorded information held by public authorities, and St Mary’s Kenmure will provide information on request if it relates to its role in:
- Carrying out public functions, or
- Delivering services on behalf of public authorities (e.g. secure care placements funded by councils)

How to use your rights
1. Request your personal data (Subject Access Request – SAR)
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you.
✔ You can make a request:
- by email
- in writing
- verbally (for data protection rights)
✔ We will normally respond:
- within 1 month
- free of charge (in most cases)

2. Ask for information (FOI / FOISA request)
You can ask for recorded information we hold.
✔ To make an FOI request:
- write to us (email or letter)
- include your full name and contact details
- clearly describe the information you want [foi.scot]
✔ You do not need to:
- say why you want the information
- mention FOI law

3. Ask us to change or delete your information
You can:
- ask us to correct inaccurate information
- request deletion (where appropriate)

- object to how your data is used
- request transfer of your personal data to another organisation
- raise concerns about automated personal data processing, including profiling.
